FUTURISTIC HORSES

Have  you ever driven a Velo? I know the answer. It is acknowledged as one of the first invented cars of the car history. It also entered into a race. And, Karl Benz is known as the inventor of the first modern car. By the 19th century, no one was able to imagine or invent a car. Karl Benz and his first invented model Motorwagen are maybe the most vital novelties of the last centuries. Well, of course, I'm not going to talk about these cars because they were geeky gadgets of the past, but they stand for many different ideas for many cars of today. I know one different from those which I guess you have never driven or will never be able to drive. Here it is.

SSC Ultimate Aero II. I think one of the most attractive and the fastest production cars. Its design is giddy. The SSC Aero is one of the worlds fastest production cars, and according to the manufacturer it can reach up to 275 miles per hour.

TIMELESS WATCHES

We all use watches. I always believe that watches show what your characters are like. They come in different shapes, colours, designs and features. Some are analogue some are digital. They all have one simple rule: tell the time. The ones mentioned below have this simple rule, too. However,

they are really different from the ones that we are accustomed to have. For instance, the watch in the picture above is Jörg SCHAUER's Timeless Digital and it is my favourite. It has three disks telling hour, minute and second. You need to create a mental line from the left to the center to read the time.

How can a person read the time by looking at this one? Lederer's design is really one of those which are designed not to tell the time but to make us guess it :) Time Dimension TD1 by Lederer is similar to Timeless Digital. It has three revolving disks from top: second, minute and hour.

Vacheron Constantin's odd desing is Mercator. This watch has a different desing than we all know. It comes in a variety of maps in dial. It has platinium or gold cases. It really deserves to be here. I am grateful for Vacheron Constantin.

Well, what about this one?
As I've told above, all watches tell the time, but some of them tell about you. Here is Tron Inspired Led Watch of Scott from UK. It looks like a bracelet with leds. Look, how nice it is! This is called technology. This watch and Scott deserve to be mentioned here. The two rings (styled on a Tron Disc) represent minutes (outer) and hours (inner).  The break in the ring represents the time in a normal clock face layout.
The electroluminescence strip and LED watch face makes the whole watch light up and will definitely stand out from other watches.

HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO WITHOUT A PIANO?

Scott Garner. One of those people who really deserves to be mentioned here. Do you know why? He is the inventor of Piano Gloves. Basically, he wears those gloves and hits on a flat and hard surface. Each finger gives a different sound. The result is, he plays the piano without a piano. Scott Garner is an art student at a college. Although he is still working on his design, it seems that this young man will produce a good work at the end. Here are some pictures. And if you like you may watch a video of him that I found on his own page at www.vimeo.com/12433228. He is playing the Japanese national anthem, Kimigayo.

A WOODEN VESPA?

Although I know that I can't mention it as a gadget, this man and the result of his work really deserve to be mentioned here. Carlos Alberto. He is a Portuguese carpenter. He is a master craftsman. He built his wooden Vespa from laminated wood. I will always be thankful people like Carlos Alberto. Here are some photos.

READING with LIGHTLEAFS: fascinating, amazing and fantastic

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all love reading books in bed before we go to bed, but this habit may disturb people around us. I think most of us have this or a gadget like this in a drawer in our bedrooms or somewhere on the bookcase. Here is a gadget which enlightens the page. It's -like all gadgets- handy. Its clip makes it easier to use. It's good for reading at night!

However, this one is totally different. The concept mentioned below is one of my favourites. LightLeafs. It's a great idea for reading. It's light, thin and bright. For many who like reading books in bed and not willing to disturb others, this product is superb! Not only for reading, but also you can use it to enlighten maps, rooms or tents.

A designer, Valentina Trimani, designed LightLeafs. Her concept really deserves to be mentioned here.

GADGETS: handy, curious, hightech

Have you ever seen a toy, an invention, a solar-powered product, or basically a grasshopper like this?

Did you ever see a soldier, a butterfly, a complex electronic product, a cyborg, a living like this?

No matter what your answer is, there is one much more important question: Why or How do these people think or invent these gadgets?

I think the answer of the question is really easy because I think that all these things are because of a human feeling called "curiosity." Thanks to it, we think about the environment around us, we wonder how things are shaped or re-shaped, we wonder how something works or how it is made work in different ways. Of course, not of us, but I believe that most people have some unique ideas that suit people's needs or that meet different demands.

The aim of the blog is not to sell or promote something. I just want to share my curiousity on gadgets with people. Here, on www.curious-gadgets.blogspot.com you will read many different articles on new or famous gadgets; from the smallest, handiest ones to the biggest and  the most useless ones. I hope you have good time and this blog becomes one of your blogs that you visit when you need to relax, have fun, get new ideas or spend a coffee break :)
